In case you haven't heard, we are helping our daughter Janie find capital for her up-and-coming bakery, which supplies us with all those excellent Sunday brunch foods (and desserts for other days). We have a flyer/proposal for those interested in a high interest paying investment in a very good cause, which is close to our heart and stomachs. If you haven't been handed a flyer at market and you would like one, see me or call.
Only two more weeks of markets then we are off for spring planting. Our last day will be March 10, returning on June 2.
We're finally finished assembling our crew for the coming season. Of our 14 apprentices we needed to hire 7 new ones this year. That's unusual. We pride ourselves in having a great retention rate, so we usually have many returnees, but not this year. We had great luck (and lots of effort), and we are very pleased with our new people. All have experience at other farms and all are committed to this work and strongly motivated. You will meet many of them at markets, starting in June. Don't hesitate to ask them about their work.
